Happy New Year

January 3, 2011

From the Patriot Post Brief

Ronald Reagan: “I’ve always thought New Year’s Day was an especially American tradition, full of the optimism and hope we’re famous for in our daily lives — an energy and confidence we call the American spirit. Perhaps because we know we control our own destiny, we believe deep down inside that working together we can make each new year better than the old.”

Constitutionalists vs. ‘Interpretationists’ In this new year, may the former prevail, and the latter finally go by the wayside

By Cal Thomas · Tuesday, January 4, 2011

The new House Republican leadership is smart to inaugurate their return to power by reading aloud the U.S. Constitution on the House floor. Recalling America’s founding principles is never a bad idea. To some on the left, though, the Constitution doesn’t mean what it says, but is to be interpreted by judges and politicians. To liberals, this means the document is useful only when it advances a “progressive” economic, political and social agenda. Otherwise, it must be considered a relic of a bygone era.

Hoping in the new year for a new era, of: Good Governance

By Linda Chavez · Friday, December 31, 2010

Every member of Congress takes an oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic,” but the newly elected 112th Congress will be the first in the nation’s history to hear the text actually read aloud when the House convenes Jan. 5. The success of the tea party movement in the last election is the impetus behind the first public reading (the text has been inserted in the Congressional Record twice), and it sets the stage for the battles to be waged over the next two years. WELL AS WE BEGIN A NEW SESSION OF CONGRESS AND A NEW YEAR, ONE OF IT’S GREATEST BLESSINGS IS THAT THE OLD ONE IS OVER. THE 111TH CONGRESS IS HISTORY, THANK GOD, AS IT WAS WITHOUT ANY DOUBT IN OUR MINDS – ONE OF THE WORST IN HISTORY. ON THAT NOTE ANOTHER WONDERFUL WAY TO BEGIN THE NEW YEAR – THE WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST IS DEAD. OK THIS AIN’T THE WIZARD OF OZ, AND SHE AIN’T DEAD, BUT AT LEAST HER GAVEL (THE MODERN DAY EQUIVALENT OF THE BROOM) HAS BEEN TAKEN AWAY. NO MORE NANCY BUZZING AROUND CONSTANTLY SMASHING THE AMERICAN PUBLIC OVER THE HEAD WITH THAT DAMN GAVEL AND HER INSANE POLICIES. WE SAID THAT THE 111TH WAS “ONE OF” THE WORST, BUT SPEAKERS THEREOF GO, PELOSI “IS” THE WORST IN U.S. HISTORY, AND THOUGH WE COULD GO ON WITH A LAUNDRY LIST OF WHY, ENOUGH SAID. ON THAT NOTE, THIS IS AN INTERESTING READ:

A Role Model for Boehner (? Pelosi, egad! Ah but actually it makes sense)
